Wedding date, time and other info
The wedding ceremony and dinner reception will be held on Friday the 23rd of July, 2010 starting at around 3:30pm on Quadra Island. Although the wedding ceremony and reception are both on Friday, if possible come and join us from the Thursday, July 22nd until Sunday at noon when we have to vacate the property. We have rented lakeside houses for the occasion and if the weather co-operates make sure you bring bathing suits! The lakefront house is located on Village Bay Lake on a 110 acre wilderness property that has an ocean bay towards the East (about 15 min walk) in addition to the lake on the West side. Have a look at the pictures on this website. There are two cottages on the property in which we will be staying with family and friends from out of town from the 17th to 25th of July. If you would like to stay on the property, there is tons of space to pitch a tent around the house, beside the lake, or you can camp anywhere else on the property although the terrain does get rough. The house toilets and showers are available to all and of course you are welcome to use the kitchens although they may be a bit crowded! NO CAMPFIRES PLEASE. For those of you coming to camp from Thursday to Sunday, we will provide food. If you aren’t up to camping, there are many hotels, B&B's and resorts on the island. However, please note that they fill up very quickly, so book now if you don't like to camp. You can also look for a hotel in Campbell River. It is only a 10 minute ferry ride and then 30 minute drive to the cottages. There is a private boat dock in Bold Bay. We have our sailboat docked there. You are welcome to bring a boat if you have one. The owner tells us the prawns and salmon are plentiful. The place is very secluded and the ocean bay even more so. Only one other house can be seen from the houses on the lake and it is very far away. There is an island in the middle of the lake and we are told the water gets up to 25 degrees C (77 F) in the summer! There are quite a few kayaks, canoes, windsurfers, and row boats on the property that are free for any of us to use. The lake is wonderfully clear and incredibly peaceful. Keep an eye out for eagles. The lake connects to several other lakes so one can kayak for miles all the way into a provincial park. There is plenty to do on the island. Pick up some pamphlets on the ferry. There are art galleries, spa resorts, great beaches, restaurants, hiking trails, several lakes, and much more. Cortes, an island to the East is also beautiful and has a ferry that runs to it several times a day. Of course, we would like you to attend our wedding ceremony and reception on Friday but the rest of the time feel free to hang out at the houses on the lake or disappear off on an adventure somewhere and generally come and go as you please. We just want you to relax and have fun. (Last updated 100710) |
